Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log or stored copy of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message when needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information whenever a page loads. That information can include:
- Page-view times and the pages opened during a visit
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and general device type
- Time spent on individual pages
- The referring website, when one is available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show which pages draw visits and where users leave the site. Analytics providers combine that traffic into broader reports. You may block cookies through browser settings, although doing so can change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
- Maintaining site availability and page speed
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Measuring which content visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Thomas County Criminal History does not own, compile, store, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Thomas County Sheriff, the county and district courts, the Nebraska State Patrol, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes found on this site. A partner's privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices govern information entered in its tool. Those practices are outside our control, so review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Thomas County website, Nebraska court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check those terms before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking technology.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that receive queries through their tools
- Advertising networks that serve content on site pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for information in our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may grant rights beyond this policy. Nebraska's Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, governs access to government records rather than data held by this private site. Nebraska's §29-3523 separately limits public dissemination of defined criminal-history information. Subject to the law that applies to a request, you may:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Seek deletion of qualifying personal data
- Object to certain forms of processing when the law permits
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. The current text and its new effective date will be posted here.
